Museums and collections of the Universiteit van Amsterdam

The University of Amsterdam, founded in 1632 as Athenaeum Illustre, holds many treasures from the history of research and scholarship. Besides the University Museum, with objects concerning history of the university, there are musea in the fields of anatomy, archaeology, computer science and zoology. The faculties themselves also have historical collections, which in many cases are still used for teaching and reseach.
