New UvA-catalogue
Published 13 August 2009

The Library has a new catalogue. This is part of a new system the UBA uses since August 13th for acquisition, cataloguing and lending.
Similarities
- Most functions are unchanged: (simple) search, advanced search, browsing the indexes, requests from the closed stacks, reserving books, extending the loan period, saving and mailing titles
- Like the "old" one, the new catalogue contains individual publications, such as books, journals, manuscripts, e-books, maps and atlases, etc. For finding articles there are other resources (e.g. bibliographic databases in the Digital Library)
- Library cards and UvA student cards remain valid for requesting and loaning titles.
Differences
The new catalogue…
- shows in the list of hits if a title is available and where
- shows information from Google Book Search (book cover, table of contents, full text)
- allows direct export to EndNote
- sends alerts via email and RSS for new titles of your interest
- has filters to limit searches to one or more libraries and/or languages
- covers the Museum collections and the (paper) Master’s theses.
