Stories from the Wild Coast
The University Library starts the new year with an exhibition about wonderful Surinam. The stimulus for this exhibition is the new image database ‘Surinam 1599-1975’ which becomes accessible on 25 January 2006. The exhibition Stories from the Wild Coast casts an eye at the early history of colonial Surinam on the basis of pieces from our own collection, such as historical pictures, maps, drawings and prints.

The Art of the Pen
This exhibition, based on the rich collection of the University Library and arranged by calligraphy expert Ton Croiset van Uchelen, gives a survey of four centuries of calligraphy in the Netherlands. In particular the Dutch calligraphers from the 17th century play an important part. The visitor is given a beautiful survey of the finest Dutch collection in this field, with unique and valuable material. The collection is part of the Special Collections of the University Library.
